Hi everyone! I am just letting you know that we are now adding pages for the children to blog into directly. Penny has a page titled “Penelope’s Poems” – it is definitely worth a read! Mira is about to add a similar page with her poetry (oh so wonderful), and Claudia and Esther are working on a page to showcase the wonderfully creative songs they are always writing together. So much talent in this class! Keep posted … there will be more to come!
This trailer was created here at school by some of our Warriors with the help of Sophy (Claudia’s Mum). We know that the Worry Monster we are learning about doesn’t look as scary as this – thank goodness!
Our school has been very lucky, as we were able to purchase some LittleBits through a grant we received. Here is a video of our first go with using them. Great fun!
Hello. My name is Claudia and my passion is Hamlet. If you don’t know what Hamlet is you have come to the right person.
Hamlet is a play written by William Shakespeare in 1599.
One reason I like it is because it has the saying in it “To be or not to be, that is the question.”
Another reason is because I like plays.
The play is about a ghost who visits Hamlet telling him that Hamlets uncle killed Hamlets father. The ghost then says your uncle killed your father so he could be king and so he could marry Hamlets mother. The ghost then encourages Hamlet to kill his uncle.
Shakespeare was born on the 26 April 1564
And died on the 23 April 1616
Hamlet was first performed in 1601.
Hi I am James and I live in Hobart. I like to play on the monkey bars and on the trampoline. I live with my mum and dad and my sister. I like drawing and piano and basketball. My friends are Nick and William. I also like to do magic tricks. I want to be a designer.
What do you want to be when you grow up?
Hi I’m Madeleine and I’m really interested in space.
The solar system holds between 200-400 billon stars and 100 billon planets.
The planets are Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune.
Mercury is the smallest planet in our solar system.
Venus is the same size as Earth except the opposite way.
Earth is mostly covered in water, it’s like a flood.
Mars has ice on it and rocks that orbit it.
Jupiter is the biggest planet in our solar system.
Saturn is most famous for its ring (it’s my favourite).
Uranus is the only planet ling on its side.
Neptune is very stormy and windy.
When you look at the moon and there are no clouds covering it you could go blind. Black holes come from stars that burst.
Consolations are a lot of stars that make a shape.
Thank you for reading and enjoy this YouTube film!
We have been looking at 2D and 3D shapes at school. I am wondering … how many cuboids can you find in your kitchen?
This week we talked about avoidance and I have included a section from the book for your reading:
“In addition to physical complaints (we spoke about these in our last session: headaches, light- headed dizzy feelings, feeling sick, breathing faster and feeling like you are about to faint …) you might find yourself doing something very common among people who worry or are afraid of something – and that is avoiding it, or ignoring it, or pretending it isn’t there. Avoidance is the Worry Monster’s best friend. The more a person avoids a certain situation, the stronger his worry and anxiety about it get.”
From: Worrier to Warrior. A Guide to Conquering Your Fears. By Dan Peters, Ph.D. (Refer to our “Parents” page).
Next week we will look at positive self talk as a way to face the Worry Monster and gain control over him, because avoiding him only makes the Worry Monster stronger!

Do you have a favourite animal, and what is it?
