The Quest To Retrieve The Holy Rabbit

In this game, you must find the carrot and then give it to the rabbit.

The player must jump and traverse around to the next platform to climb to the top. The rabbit blows up with random confetti as you deliver the carrot, very nice.

I was requested to make a game with inspiration from Castlevania, so I tried to give it a darker theme. I could only get two lessons to make the game as I had work placement.

Tower Defence: Circles vs Squares

I was told to do a tower defence game, and luckily there was a YouTube video (three actually) that I copied, other than the health for the player/end of the trail.

There was an incident that held me back two lessons. Tyson flipped the switch to my computer making not only what I did that day disappear, it corrupted the save file and I had to start over. Two lessons of work I did was now gone.

I still did it as people (Jack) were playing it for 35 minutes when I was supposed to be writing this.

Feedback says that it is enjoyable.

Biscuit Toucher

I was asked to make a simple game, so I did. Biscuit Toucher is a game similar to cookie clicker although it doesn’t have nearly enough different upgrades and possibilities.

Biscuit Toucher is a game where you try and get as many biscuits has possible in time before the game crashes. This game is quite fun to play friends and compare scores.

In the game, biscuits are your score, you get upgrades to get more biscuits per second by spending Biscuits. In a way Biscuit Toucher is sort of pay to win the stronger your computer, the longer before your game crashes and therefore the more time you have to get more biscuits.

The background slowly fills up with biscuits as you get more however the more biscuits in the background the higher the chance your game will crash. This means you have to balance your biscuit collection rate with the amount of biscuits in the background, this requires some skill but not too much.

I personally like the biscuit sprite.

This shows the progression of the game from 3 biscuits in the background to a ton of biscuits in the background:

The maze is spooky

In-game still of the final product

The basic description of this game was a 2D maze game, with a few touches to make it a little bit more difficult.

The game involves a small square character controlled by the player. The square has to collect all of the green objects while trying to avoid blocks that on contact make you restart the level.

I had a few problems originally. I was asked to create enemies that when the player goes near them the player would have to press a key or something along those lines. I had trouble programming that in, so I ended up making the enemies idle and you needed to press space when coming into contact.

Once the player collects each of the green objects you move to the winning screen which then means the game is complete.

Long Johns Quest

Long Johns Quest is a puzzle platform game that does not reward wrong movements.

The Client requested a platformer with custom sprites but no further information about what some of the other mechanics for the game would be. During the development process I decided to add blocks that you can fall through, spikes and moving spikes also the addition of score that is also your lives. On some levels you need to activate a another object before being able to move onto the next level.
